当地时间3月2日，欧盟委员会主席冯德莱恩在新闻发布会上表示，欧洲疾病预防控制中心（ECDC）已将新型冠状病毒风险级别由“中等”提升至“高”。
根据这一对疫情的最新评估，欧委会也决定成立专门的新型冠状病毒应对小组，帮助欧盟各成员国，及受疫情影响的各相关领域采取协调一致的应对措施。
迄今为止，希腊全国共有7宗新冠病毒肺炎病例，其中雅典4例，塞萨洛尼基3例。所有患者都症状轻微。
因应疫情发展，希腊卫生部和教育部3月2日晚宣布，作为预防措施，与确诊患者及其亲友有联系的希腊28所学校暂时停课关闭。

希腊卫生部早前已经宣布，希腊学校计划组织的所有出国游学活动一律暂时停止。
另据路透社消息，欧盟产业政策执委布莱顿3月2日表示，新冠病毒疫情使中国游客难出家门，这使欧洲旅游业每月损失约10亿欧元的收入。
“自1月份以来，中国游客就没有再来欧洲。这意味着损失了200万个(酒店)夜晚。自1月以来，这项损失每月就达10亿欧元，”布莱顿在接受BFM电视采访时说。
在过去的20年中，欧洲的旅游业从中国的经济增长中受益匪浅。
